WFFWi Rapid Response Dispatch, Thursday, May 29
STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH YESSENIA RUANO
7:30 A.M. TOMORROW – FRIDAY MAY 30
310 E. Knapp St. (MKE ICE Office)
Yessenia Ruano is a mother of 9-year-old American-born twins, a visa applicant and asylum seeker who has lived in the US for 14 years and works in a bi-lingual public school. She has been trapped in the labyrinth of our immigration system for years, and has participated in the Alternatives to Detention program, which is only for “thoroughly vetted” immigrants who are deemed not a risk to public safety. But now her time in the US may have run out, and she may be ripped from her family under Trump’s ramped up deportation policy. She has been ordered to report to ICE tomorrow morning, not knowing if she will be able to walk out or be detained.
